The edge of the roof does real work
Gutters, soffits, fascia and drip edge are easy to treat as trim, but together they control where thousands of gallons of water go every year. When they fail, the damage usually shows up somewhere else — wet basements, stained siding, rotten rafter tails, and in winter, ice.
We replace and repair the whole edge assembly rather than one part of it, because replacing a gutter while leaving rotten fascia behind it simply hangs new metal on a failing board.
Ice damming is usually not a gutter problem
Recurring ice at the eaves is one of the most misdiagnosed issues in this climate. It typically comes from warm air escaping into the attic, melting snow high on the roof so that meltwater refreezes at the cold edge and backs up under the covering. New gutters will not stop that. Ventilation, insulation and air sealing usually will, alongside an ice barrier membrane at the eave when the covering is next replaced.

Cleaning and seasonal checks
Most gutter failures are not dramatic. They are a blocked outlet, a loose hanger, or a joint that has opened slightly. A look before and after leaf fall catches nearly all of it, and it is far cheaper than repairing what a season of overflow does to the fascia behind.
